Allright, since we have been here for two weeks Cape Town haven´t been like it normaly is...we had like 5-6 days of average quality...not that good. But actually we scored some different days, during the Big Bay Classic competition we moved to Witsand bay. The wind was starbord tack and sideoff waveriding conditions "down the line".
The comp. started the 5th Jan but the wind was only enough for the IFCA Slalom discipline the first days, and no swell. But ones we moved to Witsand we had logo high waves and ok wind for waveriding.
In my first heat we were four guys, me Robert Sand from Denmark and two South African dudes...4 on the water...the two best advance.
Me and Robert kicked out the SA guys so we had to battle in the next round against each other. The wind was very light but on the wave we had full on, the problem was on the way out...if you dropped of the wave in wrong position the next wave catched you.
When the heat started Robert got a wave a was riding it all the way to the beach, made me a bit nervous...but I waited outside the break for a big setwave. Ones I´ve got a nice solid swell I had 4-5 nice "top-to-bottom" turns and ended up with a quit high goiter, did´nt land it into the wave though....but it was a nice end of the ride.
I had one more good wave and had a good heat so I advanced against Robert, nice!

The day after we had great conditions at BIg Bay, 4,7 sail and full on wind. My next heat was against Kevin Mevissen...now I had my chance to proove that I know the bay on my fingertips.
The heat where on...I went full downwind and charged for a big stalled forward...hit the ramp...went high...into position...rotated...when I land it...the shoe went over my heel...I slipped from the board....next wave...3m face...took the equipment...had to swim for two minutes....fuuuck!
After that my heat was more or less over, very tired after swimming and could´nt get focus again...so angry for that!
In my 8th year down here something like that happened, loose the shoe...got washed, embarassing!!!
Well well...I lost that heat and ended up 5th position overall, not satisfied with my sailing in that heat!
